Note-name flashcards
One note, one and a half seconds. If you have to count lines, the answer is not there yet.

How to practise
- 01Read from an anchor line, not from the bottom of the staff.
- 02Say the name out loud before you click. Silent recognition often feels faster than it is.
- 03When accuracy passes about 85 percent, narrow the group or shorten the time.
Common questions
Why the 1.5 second limit?
Reading needs recognition, not calculation. Naming a note within a second and a half means you saw it; anything slower means you were still counting lines.
Should I memorise mnemonics like FACE?
Mnemonics only get you started. Real speed comes from intervals: neighbouring lines are a third apart, lines with one between are a fifth. Read the shape, not the count.
Do missed notes come back?
Yes. A note you miss is drawn again sooner, and you will meet it in later sessions until it has been right twice in a row.
What is the streak counter for?
Stability, not volume. One mistake resets it, so thirty clean answers in a row say more than a hundred answers with three errors.
